102 Caledonian Avenue Maylands has new tenants!
After 14 months in the making, a hard working steering committee celebrate the incorporation of a new and vibrant young people's organisation. Youth Community Inc. was born to address many issues relating to the needs of young people. Housed in Maylands alongside 6EBA, the newly appointed Project Officer Tamar Sofair with will research and develop projects to meet the increasing needs of our younger generation.

The project was born out of the vision of multicultural community leaders who recognising the need to build bridges amongst young people that celebrate their similarities while understanding their differences.

One youth community linking all young people across all groups was needed in Perth and WA and a committee of hard working community members has initiated it. Funded by the Office of Children and Youth, the project officer will build awareness of multicultural issues in WA, link mainstream and multicultural young people and agencies, create a web site, and other projects for young people to break down barriers and promote understanding and harmony.

Tamar will be touching base with youth groups and services all over Perth and WA to include them in the Youth Community network to share information, build links and opportunities. Tamar works Wednesday to Friday and would like to hear from any large or small, local to Australia-wide groups or agencies who would be interested to be included, get their message broadcast, sponsor a youth project or have their details circulated.

Young people from all cultural backgrounds are invited to get involved to plan fun events, build a website, learn radio or TV broadcasting, create a mural, join a multicultural chorus, promote youth initiatives or put their own ideas forward.
