The annual National Ethnic & Multicultural Broadcast Council (NEMBC) Conference held this month in Brisbane saw 6EBA’s very own Indigenous youth program, "Whadjuk Radio" awarded Best New Talent for 2007. Whadjuk Radio presenter and producer, Ethel Wallam was there to accept the Award on behalf of the Station.

NEMBC staff member, Marijana Bosnjak said that she "..enjoyed the mix of language in "Whadjuk Radio". The program deserved to be celebrated, and I look forward to hearing more from them."

The conference saw the NEMBC join forces with the Australian Indigenous Communications Association (AICA) for the very first time. The theme Language, Culture and Identity was explored in talks and workshops as a central a part of the conferences activities.

Two youth awards were presented at the gala dinner ceremony, to 6EBA for Best New Talent, and to Radio Adelaide for Multicultural Youth Program of the year, for their "Neovoices" program.

The Tony Manicaros award for excellence in ethnic community broadcasting was awarded to the Spanish Youth program "Radionautas" at Melbourne’s Radio 3ZZZ.
